Tennis level and tennis equipment

  • A minimum of tennis experience is required

  • During the winter season, ACA provides tennis balls. During the summer season, you bring your own tennis balls. Tennis balls are for sale in Forest Hills.
  • Looking for tennis equipment? Go to our partner General Sport in Wilrijk and ask for a 10% discount as an ACA member (not on stringing your rackets).

  • We also regularly attend tournaments or organise a tournament ourselves, for example in collaboration with Brussels Gay Sport (BGS).
  • Since 2010, there is a club championship (see next tab)
  • There is a popular international circuit GLTA in which several ACA players participate. For more information, see below.

We expect a minimum of tennis experience. If you have never played tennis before or if you want to take extra lessons, please contact a tennis school yourself. For example, CAS Tennis Academy on T.C. Forest Hills or through your local tennis club.

Since 2010, Active Company Antwerp has been organising a tennis club championship every summer.

There is a trophy for each level. Since 2020, we have been playing a club championship in round robins played throughout the summer and a final day at the end of August. There are 3 levels.

  • Level 1: Level Open, A, and B in GLTA

Be ready: 6th edition from 3 to 6 November 2022

Stay up-to-date and follow our Facebook page!

We are proud to present the sixth edition of the Antwerp Brilliant Games. This year, we will welcome you at T.C. Forest Hills on November 3. That's a Thursday: we will start the first matches around noon (only single games). More information will be published on our facebook page, GLTA tournament website and from October on our website. Registration will start on Saturday, July 30 at 8 pm CET on the GLTA tournament website

Some history...
After the WorldOutgames 2013, the first edition of the BrilliANT Games was held in 2015 with 149 participants from more than 20 countries. This edition immediately won the trophee for best tournament due to the survey completed by our players. Thank you! In 2017 and 2019, a multi-sports tournament took place: take a look on our website. A record number of 179 players for tennis was reached in 2017. `

The editions of 2018 and 2021 were a mixed doubles tournament, held during 2 days. In 2020, the tournament was cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemic. On Febuary 8th, 2019, the GLTA announced that the 2019 edition would be a masters event for the 2020 season. This means players earned double points for the yearly GLTA championship.

Purpose of the outreach programme
As an LGBTQI organisation, the GLTA aims for diversity in tennis, which should know no boundaries, but still does... In Western Europe and the United States of America, where most of GLTA tournaments reside, LGBTQI rights are supported. We award free entry or at a strongly reduced fee to refugees in our country and players of a number of less wealthy countries in Europe where no GLTA tournament exists and no or very few players are registrated in the GLTA software.

The BrilliANT team organised a sister tournament in Tallinn in 2019, as these rights can be best acquired locally. It was a huge success! We are delighted there will also be a sequel. Tallinn Colour Games will organise the 2020 edition independently from Active Company Antwerp. Of course, Active Company Antwerp will support the organisation.

In 2022, we will try to help our friends in Poland. Last year, our donation went straight to the Háttér Society, which promotes the health and well-being of LGBTQI people in Hungary. More info can found at 250 euro was raised for Háttér, on top of more than 250 euro for Swim for live (an event in Brussels supporting people with HIV).

Please contact us if you think your organisation is eligible for our outreach program.

About GLTA

There are around 100 GLTA tournaments worldwide. If you also want to participate, you must first create a profile on the GLTA website. You won't regret it!
